I wish I could attach a photo—it is gorgeous again here today!  After our balmy Sunday–near 60 degrees and all the melting snow–the rushing Millstream…it is back to Winter!  So many choices this evening in town or close by…at the Bearsville Theater they are having a “Speakeasy” New Year’s party…New World Home Cooking always puts on a great party and it’s just a short drive away.  Joshua’s right up the street will be serving an amazing New Year’s dinner.  Bring your snowshoes!

Well, I have unsuccessfully tried to upload a gorgeous photo I took yesterday of the Millstream in winter.  Bare trees covered in snow and the babbling brook running through.  I will get some proper training on this whole blogging thing and have those photos soon!  Oh yeah–and I must include a photo of our new addition to the family—Zelda!  A lab mix pup we rescued from Georgia.  She is  adorable.  Willy got that sister he was asking for for Christmas–and well, Gomez—-I won’t repeat what he said!! Ha…this blog is for all you regulars who know the cast of characters.   Happy Holidays to all—if only you could all celebrate them up here in the Catskills–it really is picture perfect this year!

What a glorious weekend to be up here in Woodstock–if you could make it!  The first real snow storm of the year–and we hear that more is to follow on Sunday and possibly Wednesday.   I hope I can get out of bed early and get a snowshoe trot in–but being a new “mother” and all–I am a bit fatigued.   We all love the snow though–so maybe Willy, Zelda, John and I will get  up early for a special treat.  There is a Ramble this weekend.  Not sure if tickets are left–go to www.levonhelm.com and check it out.

What a gorgeous morning in Woodstock.  Not a cloud in the sky.  We made it through the ice storm unscathed!  It just missed us.  Lots of rain so the Millstream is running high and strong.  Too bad we are out of season for a swim–although Willy seems eager!  Great reports on the Dar Williams concert Friday night.  This Tuesday you can catch some fantastic local musicians at the open mic, Muddy Cup, 65 Partition Street in Saugerties, NY.  On wednesday catch the open Poetry night from 7-10 PM.  Again, come on up midweek and get a super discount here at the Inn.

Well, the first dusting of snow has hit Woodstock.  It is not much–just a slight covering which will probably melt off by noon–pretty just the same!  Willy is wild for snow!  When he sees it–he is out the door making doggie angels before I know it!  Not enough snow this morning.  I heard rave reviews this morning on the Ramble at Levon Helm’s place  and  the Martin Sexton show at the Bearsville Theater.  Both of them are wonderful intimate places to hear great music.  This coming weekend you can catch Dar Williams in concert on Friday night or on Saturday the third annual “Mulled Measure of Merry Mishegas”.. with Peter Schickele, Gilles Malkine and Mikhail Horowitz!  Not to be missed.  Go to www.bearsvilletheater.com for info and tickets.

Mid week this week you can catch music and readings in Saugerties at the Muddy Cup.  If you make it up for the Tuesday night open mic–give me a call –mention this blog and I will major discount your nights stay!!

If you have never experienced the Woodstock Open House–try and check it out this Friday night 12/5.  There is a window competition for the “best decorated.”  I love walking through town and rating my favorites.  Woodstock in the winter as I have said has a special beauty and charm that steals my heart.  There is also a lot of great music this weekend–of course the Levon Helm Midnight Ramble on Saturday.  At the Bearsville Theater on Saturday is Martin Sexton–next Friday 12/12 is Dar Williams–both shows not to be missed.

Ah, the catskill sky…if only you were up here to see it!  Hues of blue..I love the winter sky.  Don’t miss this weekend in Woodstock.  On Friday 12/5 all the shops in Woodstock center open their doors to you with cheer, good treats, drinks and special deals.  It is a great place to do some early holiday shopping–some of my favorite stores include the toy store, Timbuktu, Bingo, Pegasus–and Bread Alone for that cup of hot cocoa.   Hope to see you up here!
