Tuesday’s in Woodstock…

February 24th, 2009 by Innkeeper

You can always catch some great music at the Muddy Cup in Saugerties on a Tuesday night.  You can also catch some amazing bluegrass on Thursday nights at the Bearsville Theater..always check the website to be sure.  Midweek in Woodstock is a must!  No waits at the restaurants, easy access to the venues…personal, attentive help at all the wonderful stores in town.  What more could you ask for?  This weekend at the Kleinert/James Art Center (right up the street) a book signing by Hudson Talbott of his book ”River of Dreams” The Story of the Hudson River.  Joining him will be composer Frank Cuthbert performing pieces from his forthcoming musical which also celebrates the glorious Hudson River –and its’ 400th birthday!

and of course….THE BLACK CROWES.

Sunday snow…

February 22nd, 2009 by Innkeeper

We weren’t suppose to get very much–but it is still coming down!  A nice covering of snow makes it all look beautiful.  Last night–Emmylou Harris at UPAC, The Trapps at the Muddy Cup in New Paltz and The Black Crowes in Woodstock–a musical extravaganza of your choosing–if you could get the tickets!  I was at home waiting by the phone to hear the news from my best friend Tracy who went into labor yesterday afternoon—a healthy baby boy!  Mom, dad and son are all doing fantastic!  This week –plenty of goings on at the Muddy Cup in Saugerties, readings, music, open mic….  And this coming weekend–more Black Crowes–if you got your ticket!

Blue skies…

February 16th, 2009 by Innkeeper

What a gorgeous day today in Woodstock!  Nothing but blue skies and sunshine.  The stream is glistening and flowing calling all of us for a swim!  Willy seems willing…but I won’t let him go quite yet.  Before I know it spring will be here–the gardens will start to bloom and my schedule will get hectic. If you missed this weekend in Woodstock–you missed a lot!  The Malachy brothers gave a reading and book signing last night at the Bearsville Theater.  Live music upstairs at Joshua’s …the reports from guests were great.  This coming weekend, if you were lucky enough to grab tickets to see the Black Crowes at Levon Helm’s barn –well, all I can say is I am jealous!  They will be performing three weekends at Levon’s-tickets went so fast– if you are one of the ticket holders–lucky you!

Monday sunshine…

February 9th, 2009 by Innkeeper

What a glorious day today…warm, sunny and blue sky as far as the eye can see!  This weekend is a busy one here in Woodstock…there are still tickets left for the Valentines Levon Helm Ramble–take your sweetheart–he/she will be yours forever!  Check out www.levonhelm.com  for tickets and info.  Make your dinner reservations well ahead of time–or call/email  me and I will do it for you.   There is still plenty of snow on the ground even though the melt off has begun…it will continue all week…yeah!  Not sure how that will affect the trails–I will let you know.  I hope to take the dogs out on Wednesday.  If you can play hooky this week–come on up to the Catskills and enjoy the calm before the storm!  It is a gorgeous week–and I will give you a major midweek discount…see you soon.

Spring…

February 6th, 2009 by Innkeeper

Spring is on my mind…apparently we will be getting some warmer temperatures this weekend…Yeah!  Still lots of snow on the ground and the trails.  We will try and get out this weekend to take advantage of “spring.”  This weekend you can catch The Saturday Night Bluegrass Band at the Rosendale Cafe–just a short drive from Woodstock.  Great food, great music.  Or stay right in town –grab a bite at one of the area’s fine restaurants and then check out the Bob Marley tribute concert at the Bearsville Theater.  At the Muddy Cup in Saugerties you can hear Sean Rowe–a fantastic singer/songwriter from the Albany? area.  John did a gig with him a few years back and brought home his CD–what an amazing talent.

And don’t forget on Sunday….nice warm temps for the 6th annual Woodstock Fire Dept. sledding party from 5-8 PM!  Bring your sled, kids, and your own inner child for a grand old time!

peace,

karen
