What an evening tonight in Woodstock! Livy and & I return from a run and we are serenaded by a guest who is playing violin in the yard. What a tough life…. You should all be hearing this! Summer is winding down and August is filling up—don’t forget to come visit—before you know it –it’s back to school! Livy forbids me to use the word! It’s too early she says….but in this business, before you know it the summer has passed! UGH……wait ….SLOW DOWN! My friends from Sweden bought me a rock in town with those very words inscribed on it…ha, ha….you’ve all seen me whizzing around like a nut….laundry, laundry, laundry….zen and laundry I like to say!
Soon enough–the end of July the Shakespeare in the park here will start. It is wonderful local theater put on at the Comeau property just a short walk from the Inn. If you’ve never been–now is the time.
On your way up to the Shakespeare in the park–stop by the Historical Society of Woodstock and check out their new exhibit–”The Mountains and the River” which explores Woodstock’s unique connection to the Hudson.
This weekend in Woodstock on the 25th catch the Woodstock Library Fair–one of the best around! I have many repeat guests who come every year and make it a point never to miss this one!
peace for now…

Ah……all that rain–we are green and gorgeous and boy has the weather been fantastic! We are in heaven here in the Catskills. From what I hear this is a REAL Catskill summer! I love it!
I attended the Lucinda Childs Dance performance last Thursday and what an amazing evening it was!! I LOVE dance—-everything about it. It is the one profession I wish I had pursued. Maybe next time. There is an amazing art exhibit up at Alchemy of Woodstock. Check out work by Sweetbryar Ludwig at www.sweetbryar.com She is an amazing artist and singer!
This week starting on Thursday you can catch the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival in nearby Greene County. Check out their website for performers and tickets at www.greyfoxbluegrass.com. We may drive up for the day on Thursday and take my niece Olivia who is here visting and working here for 1 month. I am so glad to have her back this summer–she is a dream to have around the house–and all the guests love her! My sister is thrilled that I am teaching her how to REALLY CLEAN! ha, ha…. now, if only we could get her twin brother up here!
Local theater—if you haven’t experienced it this is the summer. At Suny Ulster at the Stone Ridge Campus you can catch Godspell this weekend. Call the box office at 845.688.1959–it is the last weekend. Godspell is also being performed in Kingston at the Backstage Studio in historic uptown Kingston. Call 845.338.8700 for tickets and info.
Also happening now through the end of August catch the many intriguing exhibits and performances at the Mount Tremper Arts located on Old Plank Road between Woodstock & Phoenicia. Check out the website at www.mounttremperarts.org or call 845.688.9893.

I love it! You know what they say about the Catskills…if you don’t like the weather…wait 5 minutes. ummm..they use to say that in Rhode Island! We had a moody, gorgeous day today sun and storm. I love it! This week in town I will finally be free to do as I please…no more “project.” I think everyone is happy that I finished. Of course I don’t like the piece–but it’s there and I have to live with it. I will be at the Woodstock Farm Festival on Wednesday for sure–come up and check it out. You might even catch my dear friend Jesse playing crossing guard at Tinker St. & Maple Ave.—ha, ha…. And in the evening…as always the open mic at The Alchemy of Woodstock www.myspace.com/alchemyofwoodstock . It is one of the best open mics in NY! They also have an amazing line-up for the weekend including …Sweetbryar Band on Sat. at 9PM.
Lucinda Childs’s Dance will be at Bard as part of their Summerscape program and I bought myself one of the best seats in the house!! I can’t wait…Film–Sol LeWitt, Choreography-Childs and Music by Philip Glass…wow!! www.fishercenter.bard.edu
On Friday night if you want some theater…you can catch The Who’s Tommy at the Center for Performing Arts www.CenterForPerformingArts.org in Rhinebeck just a short drive from Woodstock. Other goodies in Rhinebeck include Upstate Films (www.upstatefilms.org) and one of my favorite restaurants—Gigi Trattoria.
Right here in Woodstock on Friday night at the Bearsville Theater Jay Collins and the Kings County Band. If you haven’t heard Jay ..now is the time! www.jaycollinsband.com or get your tickets at www.bearsvilletheater.com
Saturday…don’t miss Stoney Clove Lane–one of Woodstock’s finest bands at the Bearsville Theater. You can check out their music at www.myspace.com/stoneyclove
