If you have ever been to Woodstock to celebrate Halloween–you know it is an official holiday here in town. The streets are closed–the parade begins and kids have a grand ol’time!!
For the adults…celebrate a day early at the always groovy New World Home Cooking Halloween Ball on Friday, 10/30. DJ Dave Leonard will be at the helm! www.ricorlando.com
On Friday at The Colony Cafe (www.colonycafe.com) you can catch Sarah Perrotta and Kate Power & Steve Einhorn and on Saturday don’t miss the Dharma Bums Halloween party. The Bearsville theater will be hosting a halloween bash with Majic Juan beginning at 9PM. If you can make it up here this weekend—it is always a treat!

What a day up here in the Catskills! Nothing but blue skies and sunshine, bright fall colors and crisp air-I am in heaven! Don’t you wish you were here too? This glorious month of October is always one of my favorite–lots of old friends come back to the Inn to check out the colors. It was great to see Denise & Carl–and Ron & Laura, Helen & Cheryl (all the way from Australia!) and of course….Madalyn and the crew! Thanks for coming out to John’s show and supporting local music at the Colony Cafe.
The very successful Woodstock Farm Festival comes to an end this month–every Wed. May-October it has drawn a great crowd, great music and of course great produce! www.woodstockfarmfestival.com
Don’t forget to check out the Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase this weekend if you are lucky enough to be up in the Hudson Valley this weekend. www.bearsvilletheater.com

Well up here in the Catskills we actually had some snow yesterday–I couldn’t believe my eyes! John went running up the mountain at Overlook and enjoyed quite a snowfall. I stayed home to nurse my sprained ankle–what a bummer—I may not be doing the marathon I had planned in November.
Today it is mostly blue skies–cool temps and lots of gorgeous color left…hurry on up before all the leaves come tumbling down! This weekend on Friday you can catch Steve Earle at the Bearsville Theater….and Hallow Dog–my new favorite band at the Colony this Sat. yours truly will be singing back-up on a couple of songs! Tonight at the Colony catch DB Leonard www.dbleonard.com He is a wonderful local talent not to be missed!
Next weekend is the Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase (www.woodstockinvitational.com) again, at the Bearsville Theater. Wonderful handmade acoustic guitars and all sorts of stringed instruments–and you can meet their makers! There will be live music & clinics–if you are into strings don’t miss it!

In the front row of Jonathan Demme’s film Neil Young’s Trunk Show at the Woodstock Film Festival…wish you were there!!! My friend and I just kept staring at the screen–tripping on the guitar playing–crying and laughing at the lyrics–and wishing damn hard that Neil Young would show up for the Q & A after. What an amazing festival this weekend right here in the ol’ Catskill Mountains! If you haven’t checked out this festival…start planning for next year!
Foliage season is upon us and we are gearing up for a busy fall. John & I took the pups out to Beaver Pond last Wednesday for a 14 miler (we are both in training) and the foliage has already peaked just an hour north of here! What a day in the woods for all of us! It was only 43–but gorgeous. We all passed out (except for John) in the car on the way home.
